I also meant to tell you all that we're heading to Key West in two weeks to celebrate the promotion! It's one of my favorite places to visit so cross your fingers that there won't be any hurricanes threatening!

I'm glad you won't have to move so soon Mary. Of course I would be happy if you moverd to Virginia.

Heather yes I do have some experience. I have been told that I used to sleep walk after my mother died and I was at my Grandparents house.

Mary was my biggest sleep walker. She used to walk in her sleep looking for the bathroom. She would just walk around with her eyes open but wouldn't know what she was doing. It was very hard to wake her up and then we would find out she had to go to the bathroom. Don't get mad Mary but one time she went in the kitchen and sat down in one of the chairs and went to the bathroom she was still sound of sleep. she was just a very young little girl at the time. One time one of the boys I can't remember which on it was, came in to our bedroom stood by the bedside table and started going to the bathroom. he was also a very young little boy. You should have seen how fast you Uncle Pat jumped out of bed.

For the last few months Keith has been in an interview process with his company for the position of Vice President Sales and Marketing, Wound and Skin Division (He's currently Director of Sales). He'd decided that if he didn't get the job he start job hunting and leave the company. (This was the same job that he applied for a year ago and was told he wasn't *ready* yet).

We found out today that he got the job!!!

I was happy to support him if he decided to look for another job but I have to say I'm VERY relieved that we'll be able to stay here in Minneapolis. I love the city and I wasn't looking forward to the idea of another move so soon.

Hope everyone is well. We also do not have exciting plans for Labor Day. I am working the weekend. The kids are both exhausted. Ben is trying to get adjusted to getting up at 6 am. Sarah has off today but has alot of homework over the weekend. Unfortunately she does have school on Tuesday-- her 16th birthday. Jamie has to work part of Sat. but will hopefully be off Sun and Mon.

Heather -- Ben used to get up at night when he was little. He didn't sleep walk but we would find him wondering-- or in the kitchen eating. We had to stack 2 baby gates at his bedroom door to keep him in at night. We were concerned he would get out of the house at night. He got of the house several times during the day. One day when I was cleaning I looked out the front window and saw him walking down the street-- I think he was 2 1/2 or 3 at the time!

i think kiera has discovered the art of sleep walking! at 5:30am she was not in her bed, bedroom, hallway, bathroom....not in our bedroom....i got a tad panicky.....and found her sound asleep on the living room couch! we never heard her get out of her bed.

does anyone have any good sleep walking stories????? Aunt Rae, you must have one or two good stories with such a big family!!!!

I don't have any Labor Day plans. I'll just have a nice quiet day, probably sew some and read some. I have to pospone my Physical Therapy until tuesday since they are closed on Monday.

Erin you are living in the grown up world now aren't you, working all those hours. I'm sure the extra money will be nice. Mary says Adam workes a lot of hours too.

Nothing special planned here. Originally Keith was taking off Thursday - Monday but as it stands now, he's working today and tomorrow and heads out early Monday morning on another trip.

We will have Saturday and Sunday and while we don't have any specific plans, I hope to do some walking - the weather is beautiful here and maybe we'll get out shopping for a sofa since we didn't get to that last weekend.

Adam I'm glad your move went well. You look so cute with Little Foot.

That picture of Adam and Littlefoot brings back a lot of memories. Way too cute! Just talked to KJ and the electrical work should be finished by Friday and the plumber said he'd be finished on Saturday. Then, the rest is up to us! Deb - love the window - that really looks good. Adam - glad your move went well and I know you're glad to be in a new place. Janet - Happy belated BD! Heather - You are just a trip and a half!!! Sarah - be patient. Brian, it's good to hear from you - teamwork exercises are good but it sounds like they've got you out there doing real work. I can't imagine a field where teamwork is more crucial than your new one. Lives depend on it and I know you are up to it - you've always been a team player. I'll be praying that your leg holds up to the training. The timing sucks but I'm glad to hear you're determined to be successful.

Laura, glad you're settled in and getting down to work. Your class sounds challenging but I'm sure you'll do fine. Leadership training will come in handy not just on the resume but when you get out into the workplace.

I'm hoping that both you guys will be around for the Family Reunion in December.

hey grandma. school seems like it's going to be good. i've only had one week of classes so far but it's pretty simple to tell which classes are going to be a lot of work and the classes that will be easy. basically my business classes are going to be hard especially my BIT or quantitative methods class. it's all statistics taught by, according to his previous students, a crazy ex-military guy. one of my friends had him last year and said he's really hard and the homework takes hours but that i would be fine. haha well see.

I'm in leadership tech again this year, which is a group of 80 students that break up in to different more specific groups and do things for the community. basically it's a resume builder. also, i'm doing a lot of psyc experiments for my minor.

it's going to be a busy but fun year...

Hello All! I have made it through my first week in the fire training program! This whole week was paperwork with the city and team building. My captain at the fire department has put all of us to work painting fire hydrants, weeding flower beds, cleaning the chief's cars, and many other things to help us work on our team building skills as a group. Last week was like an orientation week, but this week is the first official week to begin training as a firefighter. I am really excited! I must say that it is going to be a rough road with my knee. I am in it to win it now, meaning I am not stopping until my tibia completely breaks! Pray for me for the next 20 weeks. I am glad to see that everyone is doing great! I have to run, have to be to work early tomorrow. I can't remember who asked, but I am still working at the YMCA part time, but I wont start back working until I finish the academy. Once I am out the academy I will only have to work 9 days a month! The payoff after the academy is great! Bye for now!

One of my Customer's husband does stained glass. Well, a few weeks ago she said that they wanted to do a window for me in thanks for the special quilts I did for her. ( Mind you, she paid me to quilt them...though one of them did win an award) Anyway, they call today and ask if they can come by for a few minutes. And look what they brought!!! Aren't they gorgeous! They even match my curtains and walls!! Talk about a tip!

Chris, I can't believe you have leaves on the ground - they must have been knocked down by wind or rain since it's too early for them to by dying off. It will be interesting to see what the fall is like here.

We have several things we want to get done today.

Keith's going to run to the grocery store first.

I think we are going to be buying a new sofa. One of the legs got damaged in the move and broke a few months ago. Instead of fixing it, Keith's plan is just to replace the sofa (which is probably only a year and a half old). I'd fight him on it EXCEPT that although I love my spot on the sofa, the cushions on the back are terrible and it's a challenge to keep them looking neat. We need one with attached NOT loose cushions.

We're also talking about walking back down to the townhouses by the river to an open house. Although we're not ready to buy, we're still looking.

hey grandma. nope i haven't talked my parents into a car yet. me and my dad are trying to talk my mom into getting a new one so i can have hers.

school starts tomorrow but i had orientation on friday. this year should be pretty fun

volleyball is going good..i had a scrimmage tournament yesturday.

It is so hot here! I mean you would think that it was fall from all of the leaves on the ground! But to get a break from the heat Beck and I are going to White Water today. We are taking a water camera so when we get the pictures developed I will post a few.

The house looks great guys! And that deck on top of the car port looks really cool!

Brian hope that everything is going well, that is cool to hear that you are a firefighter. I wanted to volunteer as one when we were living in Louisiana but Beck, said no. Are you still going to be working at the Y? I hope that your knee gets better, I can't image having a injury like that. Well maybe after two broke ankles I can. So I kind of know how you feel.

Hope you all are having a nice weekend. Keith left work early yesterday and brought home a picnic lunch to take to the park. We also walked across the river last night and ate outside. We're having beautiful weather.

Today was another beautiful, breezy day so we had a late lunch outside one of our favorite places - Brit's Pub. We walked down by the river again but stayed on this side today.

Kevin took me over to his house on River Road Wednesday night and it's looking good. With the decks and the nice back yard it will be a great place to sit out and enjoy the outdoors and maybe even have a party.

I went again today for my P.T., not a lot of fun but I'm hoping it will help my shoulder.

Pat and Marcie and Sean and Marcie's children are stopping by tomorrow on their way back from Nags Head.

Hi all! This blog is so cool and wow has it blown up. My first day back is tomorrow but the kids don't come back until after Labor day. Fiona is doing great...she is now eating steak and chicken and refuses to let mom and dad feed her. She simply MUST feed herself. She has also learned how to climb stairs so the door to upstairs but now always be closed.

Debbie- that is just a great picture.

OK, I booked my flight tonight for my next trip to VA.

I arrive in Newport New on Friday, Sept 28th at 7:12PM and fly home on Friday, Oct 5th at 9:55AM.

I've got a 3 hour layover in Atlanta so I'm hoping that is enough to allow for any delays out of Minneapolis. I've had bad luck so far on my outward bound trips from MN to VA so I'm crossing my fingers that this one goes according to plan!

I just need to remember that there's a one carry on/one checked bag limit on this flight - so Mom, remind me that I can only bring one bag if I start talking about bringing things with me!

Ben starting High School this year makes us ALL OLD!

Samantha and Lucas are heading off to college this year too - they were just a few months old when Keith and I got married - that makes me feel a bit older also!

However, I have to say that for the most part I feel pretty young! Keith and I have a good time together - traveling and doing what we want without worrying about the kids is great. Of course, Ann you still have a few years to go before yours are out of college and off on their own and by then you will really be OLD!

Here's a photo of the quilt Mom helped me make for Samantha. I'm still waiting to get her mailing address so I can ship it off to her. It's from the same pattern as the one we made Laura last year but in Gator colors of course!

Hey Sarah about your driving, your mom flipping out will never go away, they always will. My mom still gets nervous to this day.

This blog is overwhelming. I leave for a day and there are like 30 new posts today. I have to say, I don't know anyone else who has a family blog.

Today was exhausting. I worked 16 hours today. I'm actually quite impressed. Also, today is the five month mark at my job. They now have me training others, and doing performance grading. I think I will be applying for a higher position in a couple of months.

And no, sadly, I am not going to school. Until I really know where I want my future to lead me, I need to take a break and reevaluate things.

Mary, i remember those dc trips and other various zoo trips and baseball games. Too many embarrasing family pictures to count!

Oh, and yes. Brian starts the firefighting. I'm proud of him and hope his knee does well.

That trip to DC in August was the LAST time we invited Pat and Keith to come with us. They kept trying to speed up the sightseeing and bribed the kids with trips to air-conditioned gift shops!

My apartment is great. I moved in saturday the 11th. The weeks been great but now i have to start worrying about classes, which start tomorrow.

Wow! I can't believe how this blog is blowing up....I feel like I have missed so much! I should have gave my mom the email address much earlier. Well, I have a stress fracture to my tibia, but it is starting to feel better, after a couple of weeks on crutches. I start my new job with Newport News Fire Department this Monday. I am going in with my knee the way that it is, so please pray for me! I have 16 weeks of the fire academy, before I will be able to be assigned to a station. Hope all is well with everyone! Grandma I am going to try to do the once a week thing.

There is a Best Western(very nice one) on the waterfront 5 minutes from the house since I know he dosen't like to stay at anyone's house. The winter's here are perfect....75-80 degrees, no humidty...Jan Feb & march are ideal times to visit if you don't like the heat. If he dosen't come soon, his dinner will be like rubber!! it's been waiting for him since this past March!! LOL

OK Lisa, I updated Erin's email address and sent an invite to the correct address.

Kevin, I sent her an Invite days ago but someone gave me the wrong address so I guess it was lost in space! Hopefully whoever received it will just delete...delete...delete.... the 3 Invites I sent!

What's up with Brian's knee? Did he get the job with Newport News?? By the way, the email address I have for him is at the YMCA - is that still valid? He's another one that hasn't answered his Invite!

Mom, Pat sent me a brief email saying you were giving him a hard time about not participating in the blog - of course he didn't say he would be joining us but I did ask for permission to post his email address.

Pat and Marcie and the kids and Sean stopped by on their way to Va. Beach and then Nags Head. We went out to dinner Kevin came with us. It was good to see them all. I'm so glad Sean came I hadn't seen him in a while.

Mary I asked Sean to join us on the Blog. He said he would send you his e.mail address. Marcie said she will send hers

Pat sold his Condo and they are going to close on the land soon I don't remember the date.

You'll notice I took down the polls. Based on the votes we got, December is best for most of us so we'll plan the Reunion for Saturday, December 8th (Mom's Birthday! Now that's a present she'll like).

It will be in Newport News - Kevin you'll have to decide if you can have it at your place or if there are too many of us we can find somewhere else to hold it.

Why doesn't everyone RSVP to me and we'll get a head count. Keith and I plan to be there so we'll start with 2 attendees.

Debbie, you're off the hook for T-shirts since most respondees to the poll said NO. I think most of us felt sorry for you and didn't want you to have to work that hard!

Frances called me tonight I talked to her and Nancy. They just got back from up north and are back at the lake. They said they had a wonderful time. Nancy and John and Elizabeth will head home on Saturday.

Just because I hate to go too many posts without photos here's one from last summer.

We flew back today and are home safe and sound.

Chris - I'm glad you and Adam had a nice visit but I wish he'd returned my calls! Glad to hear Hugh is out of the hospital - thanks for letting everyone know.

Maureen - I haven't forgotten you. I did a search of the help files and can't find a reason why you wouldn't be able to vote in the polls. Next time I put one up maybe we can talk on the phone and you can tell me exactly what you see.

Hey guys! Just wanted to let you know that Hugh is doing fine, he left the hospital yesterday. He ended up have two shints (sp) put in, and then spent a day in ICU, and released the next day.

Adam has been here for most of the week and he is leaving tonight. We had a pretty good time, we went and played racketball. It was fun, we ended up playing doubles with some of my new co-workers, and lost by 2!

Did we decide when in December we would be meeting up? Was the weekend of the 8th going to be our weekend or not?

Keep the pictures coming! I should have some new ones to post tomorrow or Friday. Becky and I are going to a Braves game!

OK Debbie, I created a poll for the question of whether or not we want T-shirts for the Family Reunion - everyone go vote.

What a great day this was I had e-mails from all six of my children and one adopted son(Jamie). I'll have to send updates to everyone more often.

Don't want shirts?? That's OK with me ( less work for me) All I ask is whatever you decide, do it soon...Dec is not that far away and it takes time to do it. And , just for the record, My idea is for just something like "McLaughlin Clan 2007" embroidered....nice and simple.

I was kidding about the T shirts. With all the "Family Reunions" here at the park, all I see is people running around with their family T shirts on. If you rreally must have family T shirts, they would be right at home here in beautiful downtown Bowie!!

I don' t think everyone voted in the poll yet so I'll leave it up a bit longer but it looks like December is winning for the Family Reunion. I agree with Maureen that Mom's birthday would be a good date but I can always put up another poll with the 2 weekends if we need to.

We had another beautiful day in San Diego yesterday - we even got a free concert as they were rehearsing for the Summer Pops series being held in the park. Keith had to start working yesterday at dinner time so now I have a couple days to wander around on my own.

Yes mother, you needn't fret - my wife won't let me get anything too expensive. I was given permission to buy a truck next year when the Impala is paid off, but since Janet doesn't want two car payments at once I guess I'll have to wait another four years...I found a 03 Malibu @ Saturn of NN for about 10k with 26k miles on it, I'll probably end up getting that. Of course, if the Chief gets off his fat duff and actually finally authorizes the Department reorg, I'll go to P&E and get an unmarked car which isn't subject to the policy change.
