I finally remembered my password. Everyone is doing well. Fiona is growing so fast and big. It is hard to believe that she is only 18 months old. I just finished a grade class and school will be done in a few weeks. Kevin and Brian Ihope you guys are feeling better. Glad to hear Mary and Debbie had fun. Heather, congratulations. Here are some recent pictures of Fiona.

I had a great time in Virginia visiting Mom for Mother's day and seeing everyone (but Debbie!). I hope Kevin and Brian are feeling a little better now - both had some surgery right before I got there. (Poor Lisa!)
Pat and Marcy came too with the boys and we planned a visit to see them September 6th. Keith and I will be in DC that weekend and Ann, Mom, Maureen, and Lisa are all planning to go with us for a visit.
After leaving Newport News, I headed to Kansas to attend a big quilt show with Debbie. Here she is getting ready to go shopping - there were lots of vendors at this show.
And here she is with the quilt she entered which won 2nd place in the Theme category. She designed and quilted it for her guild's raffle - it was pieced by her guild members.

It is 4 ish in the wee hours of the morning. Kurt and I have to be at the hospital by 6am to start our (really my) induction. So hopefully by this afternoon or so...there will be a new member of the family! Pray that my delivery is quick and on the painless side!
I'm sure Mom and Dad will pass the word when "he" (shhh! Kurt doesn't know the baby's sex still) arrives!

and Chesty is hiding under the bed. I had them pack our bedroom up first so I could let him out of his crate but he's very unsettled by the activity and disarray.

Scrapbooking brads in postcards

Deborah Levy
I understand you all are enjoying the postcard challenge. That is great! This is postcard for this exchange. I used a variety of techniques, but Mary and I were talking today about how much we're are enjoying using the scrap booking brads in our postcards. In this one the dragonflies and smaller flowers are brads. they are really a cute and quick way to make a postcard.
In order to use the brads, you make a hole thru the postcard top. This tool came with my sewing machine. It makes punching those holes really quick and easy. For those of you with Brother machines, look at you tools and see if you got one with your machine. If you didn't and would like one, I'll order one for you thru the brother dealer. Mary suggested I do this little tutorial to show how quick, easy and cute these are to do. I completed this postcard start to finish in 15 minutes this evening.
First, cut your peltex to size....4"x 6".

Then cut your top fabric and fuse it to the peltex.

The brads come in many shapes and styles and can be found in the scrap booking section of JoAnn's and Michaels. This is a large flower...they also have a small one.

These are dragonflies, they also have butterflies.

These are letters. They have many different styles of letters. I have chosen a spring theme.

The first brads I'm going to attach are the letters. I draw a line with a water soluble marker so I can keep them relatively straight. The only thing you have to remember is to keep them well away from the edge, so that your sewing machine foot doesn't hit them when you are finishing the edge of your postcard.

I then drew vertical lines to help with spacing of the letters, and then made the first hole with my punch.

Then just put the letter thru the hole and spread the arms on the back.

continue punching holes to put the rest of your brads where you want them.
Then cut your top fabric and fuse it to the peltex.

We spent last night and today at the townhouse cleaning - ugh, my least favorite thing to do. We did take time out today to walk to a local bike shop and bought bikes. I think it's been 15 years since I've ridden a bike and I'm lucky someone didn't run me over on the road near the bike shop. Luckily, we can ride right out of the townhouse onto the bike paths and go for miles without going on another road.
So now that we've got the bikes should we invest in some lycra??

We had the closing today so the townhouse is ours (well, ours and the bank's). I'm standing on the back deck and you can see the city behind me. We'll officially move on April 16th but I'll be back and forth with some remodeling before we move in.

Congrats on the job Erin! Good luck!
Hope that everyone is having a good day! Becky and I went to a wedding this weekend in Louisiana. I was a groomsman in the wedding. It was a very nice wedding, and we had a good time except for the drive! It was really long, about 8.5 hours one way. We only had one good picture, because my camera was acting up, so here was the best one!
This was the first wedding that Ihad been to, since mine. It brought back alot of good memories, and the time that we were able to spend. I was so glad that you guys were able to come, and share our day with us! Take care and talk to you guys later!

How about a new challenge?

Mary and I were reminiscing about our quilt challenges yesterday. Wouldn't it be fun to do it again?
I was thinking maybe fabric postcards to start
...they are small, and don't require a big time commitment. I know Ann, you don't have a lot of time, and Maureen you're still working too, but I think this would be doable for everyone.
I would love it if we could do one each month...no other rules. Just one based on whatever strikes your fancy for that month.
Mother, Mary, Ann, Maureen...what do you think? And Nancy you and you're girls could participate too if you like. Let me know.
